Seamless tubes

The seamless tube is made of a round ingot or billet that is heated and rolled. As a result, a thick-walled hollow bar is formed, which is then subjected to cold or hot rolling. The purpose and use of a seamless tube determines its size. This property of the product consists of: outer diameter, internal diameter, wall thickness and dimensional tolerance.

Seamless tube – classifications

We can classify tubes by their different properties, eg: production method, cross-sectional shape, application, processing of tube ends. In the tube category there are products  used in mechanical and energy devices. In contrast, seamless pipes are used in pipelines for the flow of various media.

The next classification of this product refers to the division into:

  • rolled tubes
  • precision tubes
  • galvanized tubes

Electroplating (galvanization) is the coating of the surface with a layer of zinc or chrome which is to protect the product against external factors.

The rolling process determines the formation of the following types of tubes: drill tubes, wire tubes and boiler tubes.

Seamless tubes – application

Seamless tubes are characterized by their high strength, which makes them useful in the construction of gas and water installations. They are also used in drilling structures and in the production of, for example bicycles and gun barrels . These are not the only industries where these tubes are used, because they are also present in hydraulic systems as well as in the automotive and machine industry.

Tubes of this type are an important part of connections for the transmission of gases and liquids, heat exchangers, coils, recuperators, condensers, evaporators, radiators.

A thick-walled tube with a designated diameter can have many configurations with different lengths and thicknesses. The connection point can determine the tube of a given diameter.

- wired tubes

Line tubes are manufactured in such a way as to meet the requirements for the transmission of gases and flammable liquids or solids.

- honed tubes

Seamless honed tubes are honed – ie. machining a cylinder or hole to finish the surface and remove imperfections in shape.

- hydraulic tubes

Hydraulic tubes are used in pressure installations, in power hydraulics.
